FAQs

  • The cottage sleeps 6 and has 3 bedrooms:

    2 rooms with queen beds
1 room with a king single (and an extra single bed available on request — note this makes the room compact).

We don’t allow parties or events, and the number of guests must match the booking unless otherwise agreed in writing.

  • Yes — for privacy reasons, we don’t share Eliza’s exact location publicly. Once your booking is confirmed, you’ll receive full address details and arrival information.

  • Yes. When you book Eliza’s, the cottage, gardens, and pool are all yours to enjoy. The vineyard is part of a working estate, so while you may see us tending vines or maintaining the garden, we’re mindful of your privacy and will always let you know in advance if work is required nearby.

  • No commercial photography or filming is permitted without prior written approval. Eliza’s Garden Cottage is a private property, and we’re protective of both our space and our brand. If you’d like to request permission for a photoshoot or film project, please get in touch in advance. Approved projects will be required to sign a Commercial Photography & Filming Agreement before arrival.

  • Yes, we require a two-night minimum stay due to the work required to prepare a 3-bedroom home. One-night stays may be possible by arrangement and are quoted individually.

  • Yes — we offer special rates for stays of 14 nights or more. Please get in touch for a personalised quote based on your preferred dates and length of stay.

  • Yes — we love welcoming guests back. Repeat visitors receive 10% off future stays as a thank you for choosing Eliza’s again.

  • Yes — Eliza’s is family and pet-friendly. Children are welcome, and your furry family members are too (we just ask you let us know if you plan to bring more than two dogs).

  • Yes, free onsite parking is included. Four cars can fit comfortably, though after two cars in the drive, extra vehicles may need to shuffle when coming and going.

  • Unfortunately not fully. Entry requires stepping up over a single step and threshold, and the interior doors are standard width. If you have specific accessibility needs, we’re happy to answer questions to help you decide if the cottage is suitable.

  • No — we don’t charge cleaning fees. Your booking rate includes everything, so there are no surprise add-ons.

  • Check-in is from 3pm, and check-out is 10am. Early check-ins may be possible if we don’t have a same-day turnaround, but with full occupancy this can be tricky.

  • Yes — free, unlimited WiFi is included. It’s delivered through copper lines, so reliable, but don’t expect fibre speeds. Perfect for streaming, work emails, or a quiet night of movies.

  • Taxis and shuttles are available, but a car gives you more freedom to explore. Eliza’s is an easy bike ride into Blenheim or to the local Four Square supermarket.

  • Plenty! You can order straight to the cottage with Delivereasy and Uber Eats. Or, if you feel like stretching your legs, Marlborough’s best local pub is just a 500m stroll down the road. For longer adventures, you’ll find world-class wineries, restaurants, and hidden gems just minutes away — discover more on our explore Marlborough page.

  • Just a 14-minute drive from Blenheim Airport, making arrivals and departures easy. Picton, the gateway to the Marlborough Sounds and Interislander ferry, is only 17-minutes drive away.

  • We offer full refunds up until 30 days before check-in. Refunds after that are subject to management’s discretion and depend on replacement bookings. We recommend travel insurance for peace of mind.

  • Yes — Eliza’s Gift Vouchers are now available. They make a wonderful gift for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, or simply to surprise someone with the promise of a Marlborough getaway. Contact us to purchase.

  • Sustainability is at the heart of Eliza’s. From homemade breakfast provisions sourced from the farm, to wildlife-friendly gardening and kaitiakitanga (guardianship of the land) guiding how we care for the land, we aim to leave this place better than we found it.

  • The garden offers beauty year-round:

Spring — Woodland bulbs and rhododendrons (October is spectacular)

Summer — Himalayan Giant Lilies in December, citrus ripening

Autumn — Harvest season, figs, grapes, apples, and citrus to forage

Winter — Citrus in abundance, fires waiting inside

A lush garden with tall cacti, various green shrubs, and trees, illuminated by sunlight.
